We're not even retaining those we attract. Which is fine, really. Separating the wheat from the chaff will require many tosses and then some milling and trial by fire to produce anything worth eating.
I hesitate to suggest it because of how easy these things get out of hand, but I think some organization of threads on /b/ might be called for. Actually I rarely make threads in the first place. One thread a day with a link back here, but not in the OP post.
My concerns are that firstly we will end up spamming and being faggots about the whole thing; I know how this shit can take on a life of its own. I was among the first to bring ponies to /b/ from /co/ncentration camp, and look at that shit now. Ego stroking faggots suck each other's cocks all day errday. Not that we'd post threads THAT much, but there is still a risk of posting it too much and making people lose interest.
Secondly, the OP shouldn't link directly back here, in my opinion. Then it ceases to be about engaging people and starts being about selling them something. We shouldn't solicit for members, even if recruitment is our aim. When the topic of organization comes up, when someone seems interested and serious, then they can be linked to this forum because THEY solicited it from US. Chase the cat and you'll lose it: so let the cat come to you. /b/ is full of cats.
Also, there are about 25,000 islands in the Pacific. Pitcairn might be the most lightly populated, but it's not really very engaging when people find out its part of the British Empire. I believe it should be mentioned, but with other potential candidates too. That way you get all the advantage of appealing to peoples' sense of adventure without the disadvantage of having hit and runs mockingly saying the SAS or Royal Marines will kill everybody.
